Optimum Performance was founded in 2017 by Peter Kilford.
Peter spent 32 years in the city – in financial markets. A brief period of ill health prompted Peter to reassess his life and led to a radical career and lifestyle change.
Optimum Performance’s purpose is simply to help people become better versions of themselves.
But how do we break that down? We focus on delivering optimum performance in three main areas: mental performance, physical performance and corporate performance.
mental performance
Finally, it has become acceptable to talk about mental wellness. We know that to truly achieve optimum performance, mental well-being must be part of the equation. High performers in every field know this. All the best athletes work on their mental health and use mental performance coaching to reach their goals, for example.
Lifestyle plays a huge roll, things like efficient resting affect all of the above, quality sleep, for example, is crucial and so is nutrition of course.
Often people get into a vicious circle; pressures at work cause bad sleep, resulting in low energy making it difficult to keep physical activity up and so the downward spiral starts.
Achieving and sustaining optimum performance is not easy. It requires a holistic approach that incorporates the three key principles: physicality, mentality, and recovery. True optimum performance allows you to thrive – not just in the gym or on the pitch, but in every part of your life.
physical performance
Believe it or not, even physical performance is very much individual. Of course the principals are relatively straight forward, however, there is a huge difference between simply exercising and working out efficiently.
Everyone’s optimum performance varies depending on who they are and what their situation is. For some, it might be about physical strength; putting the hours in at the gym, focussing on lifting heavier or pushing higher reps. For others, it’s about endurance; running marathons, long days on the bike, or hiking in the wilderness.
Important is to know what one’s goals are and working towards achieving them – efficiently, and ensuring to keep a balanced approach.
corporate performance
Having lead teams in high stress, high performance environments for 3 decades, Peter knows what is expected and required of the individual team member. He also understands the toll this can take on people all too well.
Today, he understands that teams often aren’t getting the support they need and frankly deserve.
Saying that, companies are the ones really loosing out. Imagine a workforce that knows where their achilles heels are. And then giving them the tools to break the patterns that hold them back.
